The room’s name is a homage to Reverend Alban Thomas Jones Gwynne, a local entrepreneur who planned and developed Aberaeron through an Act of Parliament passed in 1807 allowing him to rebuild the harbour. Aberaeron grew and prospered following the passing of the act and became a charming Georgian town built around a large open square, Alban Square. The famous Welsh poet and writer Dylan Thomas has strong links with Aberaeron and described the Aeron valley as “the most precious place in the world”.
